Hi, I’m Shelby — a watercolor artist and emerging children’s book illustrator based in sunny Los Angeles. My work is inspired by the quiet magic of nature, the curiosity of childhood, and the power of stories to help us feel more grounded, connected, and seen.
I’ve always been drawn to art as a way of making sense of the world, and after years of working as a nature educator, camp leader, and gardener, I’ve come full circle — blending my love for the outdoors with my lifelong dream of writing and illustrating picture books.
My illustrations often begin with watercolor and ink, then come to life with digital detailing. I gravitate toward soft textures, gentle characters, and soothing palettes — always with the intention of creating a space where imagination feels safe and expansive.

Nature, with its intricate patterns and diverse beauty, often serves as a pool of inspiration for artists, myself included. The world around us influences my perspective and creative expression. Observing the cosmos and its vastness sparks a sense of wonder and awe deep in my soul. This has lead me to explore themes of infinity, interconnectedness, and the inner dynamics of the universe.
Spirituality, whether through personal beliefs or the exploration of universal truths, often this will infuse art with deeper meanings and emotions. This guides me to my creations with a sense of true connectedness.
